Newmarket Nighthawks – Return to Hockey– February 5th 2022!

We are pleased to report that all ice times are back, ready for your on-ice enjoyment:

  8:45 — Juniors Practice
  9:45 — Intermediates Practice
10:45 — Seniors Practice

All protocols are the same as when we last played. They are below for your review.

We are pleased to announce that the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) and the Town of Newmarket have confirmed our return to hockey on January 31st, 2022! Here are some key considerations for our reopening:
    1. Capacity is limited to 50% - while this won't affect most of our games or practices please only have family that need to attend come to the rink.
    2. Our changing rooms will continue to support one team per room, but please consider:
        -    Masks must be worn while preparing to play
        -    Arrive fully dressed to play (dress at home) to limit time in the change room
        -    Dressing rooms are an area the Town has the least ability to oversee so it is vitally important for coaches/players/parents to act responsibly in these spaces
    3. Masks must be worn at all times. Please understand that ice time could be cancelled if our    players, coaches and/or families are not observing masking protocols.
    4. Proof of Vaccination must be presented in the form of a QR Code (smart device or printed on paper).
    5. The Town Of Newmarket Covid Screening must be completed for each participant & parent or caregiver.

We look forward to seeing our athletes on the ice very soon!!!

Happy New Year Nighthawks Players and Families!! and more Covid-19 news

We hope you all enjoyed the holiday season! As you all are aware, COVID-19 keeps rearing its ugly head!

As per government regulations, all indoor recreational facilities are closed.  We are sadly informing you that the Kitchener Pirates Family Day Tournament that was scheduled for February 2022 has been cancelled.  Please see note below from the Kitchener Tournament organizers.  Please also note that all hotel accommodations for Newmarket Nighthawks have also been cancelled.

From the KIP organizers:
As I am sure many of you were anticipating, we are very sad to be emailing you to cancel our 6th Annual KIP Friendship Tournament once again. With the cases rising and the new restrictions mandated by the government starting this week, we know it is not feasible to move forward with such a large event by February 18th-20th, 2022. Right now, the arena is closed, but we anticipate restrictions remaining even if things open up on January 26th (limited #’s in dressing rooms, limited spectators and buffers between ice times). All the uncertainty makes it very challenging to organize such an event. We appreciate all your patience as we work to try and navigate all this through the pandemic.

We really hope to be able to bring everyone together in the near future. We miss seeing you all at the rink, it has been far too long!
Take care and stay safe.

KIP Tournament Committee:
As requested from Newmarket Nighthawks, all hotel room reservations under our group block have been cancelled .

We will be sending out more details around refunds shortly.

We will keep you all updated as information becomes available.  We hope to see you back at the rink soon.  Stay healthy and safe!

Update on Public Health Measures Due to Omicron Variant

Nighthawks athletes families and caregivers:

As part of the quickly changing COVID situation, the province has decided to revert back to Step 2, pausing indoor recreational sports starting Jan. 5 to Jan. 26.  The Nighthawks ice will be cancelled both Jan. 15 and Jan. 22.

We will continue to keep you updated on the situation for indoor recreational sports as we receive these provincial guidelines.

The health and well being of our athletes, families and caregivers are of most importance.

Stay healthy and safe.
